Serge Gainsbourg

A musical reference

Serge Gainsbourg is for me a model. He represented an image of freedom politically incorrect that fascinates me.

This poet, composer, leaves the memory of a sulphurous dandy parading with his English muse, Jane Birkin.

The personality of Serge Gainsbourg seduced me, a crazy personality, out of the ordinary.
What I like in his music is the text, the mix between classical and modern.

Born into a family of Russian immigrants, Serge Gainsbourg is interested in artistic professions from an early age. Pushed by his father, he starts painting and then begins to write his first songs. He writes for several artists such as Juliette Gréco or France Gall. It is during the 1960s that he will experience his greatest successes.

Provocative and mediatized artist for his romantic stories with Brigitte Bardot and Jane Birkin. His amorous encounter with Jane Birkin will mark their respective lives, as well as the heritage of French song. It is with her that will re-record the famous song: "Je t'aime moi non plus".

An atypical place

I invite you, my dear readers, to discover the house of Serge Gainsbourg. This is a sacred place for admirers of the great artist.

Located rue de Verneuil, this house, wedged between buildings, would go unnoticed if its facade was not decorated in Street Art. This memorial on the wall of the house allows all fans to come and put a word, a drawing for this great singer.

Gainsbourg lived in this house from 1968 until his death. Legend has it that there are still ashtrays filled with butts inside the house!

In this little street of the bourgeois Paris, everything is beautiful, everything is calm. One can be wondering and be amazed by the tracks left by fans around the world.

You will recognize many sentences from his texts, you can imagine the life very atypical he had in this house.

Know, my kind readers, that the daughter of Serge Gainsbourg, Charlotte Gainsbourg recently announced her wish to launch a new project to open the house of Serge Gainsbourg. She now seems ready to reconsider her decision and transform the 130m² mansion into a museum.

Dear readers, I leave you with this beautiful word from the song Valse de Melody: "The sun is rare and happiness too, love goes astray throughout life."

See you soon!
