A few days ago, we visited the National Museum of Natural History, a must-see in Parisian museums. As taken from our childhood memories, time seems to have stopped in this unusual place. The building is itself a glorious piece of Parisian architecture, magnificent!

The history of the museum goes back to King Louis XIII, who created in 1635, by royal edict, the first Royal Garden of medicinal plants. The plants are cultivated and studied there.  In the 18th century, medicine gave way to a natural history practice and, little by little, research developed.

The Museum was officially founded on 10 June 1793. In the 19th century, the study of animal life became more important. The menagerie and paleontology take place there. Quickly adds the mineralogy gallery.

We spent a wonderful time there, out of time. The universe is magical for both young and old. You will discover a magical setting. Located in the heart of a beautiful park, the Museum of Natural History is incredibly rich.

Did you know that the Museum of Natural History in Paris is one of the largest research and teaching institutions in Paris? Its collection is composed of more than 62 million specimens, all species combined, it is one of the richest in the world!

An integral part of the Natural History Museum, the Grande Galerie focuses on the evolution of species and the diversity of the living world. We particularly enjoyed the atmosphere with the dim lights and the sound of animal cries or natural environments that makes everything very impressive!

The visit is exciting, including the history of the evolution of human development, destructive to the fauna and flora, the history of the first discoveries of some animals as well as their studies.

Once the visit is over, we suggest you take a walk in the Jardin des Plantes. What a treat for the eyes and nose to cross this vast expanse of flower beds and other plants!
